I’m a teacher. How do I take out a school subscription?
There are two ways of buying a subscription:
[A] Many schools will want to raise an order and send this to SciFly Interactive, Trewyn Lodge, Pandy, Abergavenny, Monmouthshire, NP7 7PF. SciFly will then invoice the school in the normal way. At the same time, we will register the school online and enable you to gain immediate access to all the site’s features. NB: you won’t have to wait until payment is made.
[B] SciFly offers a second, faster online subscription process which starts with the School subscription link at the bottom left of the home page. This online process leads to a standard invoice being sent to your email address immediately you complete the subscription process or you can print one off; payment can then be made by BACS or cheque in the normal way.
For schools deciding to register and subscribe online, follow these steps:
To begin, go to the home page, click on ’Subscribe’ in the School box on the lower left hand side.
Step 1: Register your school. Fill out the school registration form, choosing an email address and password which is secure from pupils’ eyes! You will use these later when accessing the teacher’s admin page. Then choose a school username and password which is easy to remember (Please don’t use Biology or Scifly as your school username!). These must be given to the pupils when they register with SciFly.
Step 2: Now select your pupil quota. This will determine the cost of your 12 month subscription (details of subscription costs given below). Remember that Additional Science content will be added to the site soon (AQA is online now, Edexcel in September, OCR in November) making it relevent to Year 11.
Step 3: Checkout payment: Click on ’payment by invoice’. There will be a 24 hour delay while SciFly activates your access. Your school will then have 30 days to settle your account.
Step 4: Checkout confirmation: Once you have confirmed the purchase details and clicked on ’confirm purchase’, you will automatically receive a confirmation email. If you selected ’payment by invoice’, you can now print off an invoice which should be passed to your finance manager for processing. A copy of this will also be emailed to you. The payment process is exactly the same as ordering by post - simply much faster.
How much does a 12-month school subscription cost?
Prices for a 12-month school subscription are:
access for up to 99 pupils - £99.00
access for up to 199 pupils - £109.00
access for up to 299 pupils - £119.00
access for up to 399 pupils - £129.00
access for up to 500 pupils - £139.00
I’ve subscribed my school - what happens next?
ISciFly will activate your access within 24 hours and send you an email confirming this.
As a teacher, you can now access the website in two ways:
[1] to view the tests, you need to register as a user. Click on ’register’ on the home page and follow the online instructions which follow. Use an email address different from the one which you used to register the school when you subscribed. When you finish, return to the home page and sign in using your personal email address and password. You can now access all the tests on the site.
[2] to view a list of the pupils in each year or teaching group of your school who have registered together with their test scores, you need to sign in using the email address and password that you chose when subscribing the school (not your personal address/password).
Once your school subscription has been activated, pupils in your school can then register and gain access to the tests. They will need the school username and password to do so.
All these details will be sent to you by email and by post when you subscribe in case you forget your email or password details.
I’m a pupil in Year 9, 10 or 11. My school has subscribed to SciFly. How can I get free access?
Make sure that you have been given the school username and password. Your biology teacher will have these details. You will also be asked to enter your teaching group or set. Proceed as follows:
Click on the ’Register’ button in the Registration box on the home page. Fill in your details carefully taking particular care with your email address. This is the only way that SciFly can ’talk’ to you. Make a note of your password since you will need this to sign in each time you visit the site. Your teacher should have told you which GCSE Science course you are studying and your teaching group or set name/number. If not, guess for now - you can change it later if necessary.
When you have filled in the school username and password, click on ’submit’. This takes you to your profile. You can visit your profile any time to alter or update your details. Now click on the tests tab and get revising! Don’t forget to log out when you leave.

How can I find out which topics in my Science course are covered in each test?
Click on the ’Tests’ tab and you’ll be taken to your exam board page. Select one of the two modules (three for OCR-21C) to be shown a list of tests available for that module. Beside the name of each test is an ’Overview’ button. Click this to see a list of all the topics covered by the foundation and higher tests.
When I registered, I entered the wrong Science course. How can I change it?
Click on the ’My Profile’ tab. Near the bottom of the page, you’ll find a menu of the 7 GCSE courses. Select your new choice and click ’submit’. Now when you select ’Tests’, you’ll be taken to the new Science course.
I’m a teacher. Can I see a list of my school’s pupils who have registered with SciFly, together with their test scores?
You certainly can! Sign in using the email address and password that was used to subscribe your school. This opens your school’s profile.
Now click on ’View pupils registered in your school’.
Select a year - 9, 10 or 11. All the pupils registered in that year will be listed.
To see the pupils in a particular group/set, click on the name/number of that set.
Finally, click on ’show all results’. You’ll see a complete set of results for every pupil in that group or set.
Help! I’ve forgotten my password.
No problem. Simply email info@scifly.co.uk and we’ll reply with your password. For security purposes, you must:
[1] email from the email address that you sign in with; if this is not possible, include this email address in the text of your email. SciFly can only identify you from this email address.
[2] include your full name
I am a teacher who has subscribed my school but I am having difficulties accessing the tests.
Once you have subscribed your school and completed the payment process, you need to register yourself as a user in order to access the tests.
Simply return to the home page and click on Register. Follow the instructions which include entering your personal email address and password (don’t use the same email and password that you used when subscribing your school.) When you have finished, log out and then sign in using your personal email and password.
Your pupils should follow exactly the same procedure for accessing the tests themselves.
Why don’t the full module exams start with question 1 and continue in sequence?
Each module exam is unique since the website takes a random selection of questions on that module from the database. While the number of questions will always be the same, the combination of questions will change. Sometimes this means starting with a question whose number is not 1!
